The West Ridge in Punta Penia, Marmolada is a medium difficult via ferrata, and one of the more panoramic all over the Dolomites as well. Strarting from Rifugio Pian dei Fiacconi, you hike on snow and ice with crampons till Forcella Marmolada, where the via ferrata starts. It's well protected with fixed steel ropes, ladders and some pitons, and you climb up to 3000m on a great scenery, with many contrasts (rock, snow, ice and the green fields around Arabba and Val di Fassa), very challenging. This tour has to be faced with caution and preparation, better with a Mountain Guide. You hike on a glacier (risks of crevasses) and around an altitude where a changing in the weather could be dangerous.
